Since the launch of the Spark series, it has become an annual tradition for TECNO to also launch the “Light up Your Dream campaign”, which is an initiative aimed at supporting young Nigerians with dreams but are hampered with finances to take it further.

Man's mouth destroyed after he was shot during a cult clash allegedly between Aiye and Eiye in Delta state (extremely disturbing photo)

A man's mouth was completely destroyed after he was shot at during a clash between two cult groups in Delta state.

According to online reports, there was a clash between members of Eiye and Black Axe (Aiye) confraternities in Sapele area of Delta state. The clash led to the death of one person. Another was shot in the face and it completely destroyed his mouth and jaw.

The recent incident is a reprisal attack after a young man identified as Voltage Kingin Agbagu (ALIKI), alleged to be a member of Eiye confraternity, was shot dead two days ago by men alleged to be members of Aiye confraternity (Black Axe) around Oriaki road in Sapele.

The man whose mouth was blown off was rushed to the hospital for treatment as can be seen in the graphic photo below.

Hundreds displaced, property destroyed as rainstorm wrecks havoc in Osun

A fierce rainstorm on Wednesday destroyed property worth several millions of naira in many part of Osun State, as hundreds of residents were displaced.

In Osogbo, the Osun state capital, areas affected include: Oke-Baale, Gbonmi, Isale-Osun, Kelebe, Ofatedo, Igbona, Oke Onitea among others.

The rain, which started at about 7:10 pm continued heavily for over three hours, and uprooted scores of electric poles, throwing many communities into darkness.

Many residents remained stranded after losing the roof of their buildings to rainstorm, while traffic was obstructed by electric poles, which fell across Kajola street, in Balogun-Oke Bale area of the metropolis.

Speaking with JOURNALIST in Osogbo, a victim of the disaster, who is also the head of Kajola community, Chief Tiamiyu Ibraheem said it was a terrible experience for residents of the area.

He said though, no cases of casualty were recorded, he had personally lost close to one million naira worth of property to the incident.

He said they have called the electricity company to come and remove the poles that fell during the downpour.

At Kelebe area, no fewer than 40 houses were affected, including a newly built
Chris Apostolic Church, Oke Ase, which its roof fell into the compound of an Islamic leader, who holds sway as the Grand Imam of Ansarudeen Mosque in the area, Alhaji Yunus Sanusi Imogbemi and damaged his car.

The Pastor of the church, Mr Oshunsina Abel called on the state government and other stakeholders to come to his aid, likewise the Imam, who said the church must not be left there in rumbles.

Meanwhile, the General Manager, Osun State Emergency Management Agency OSEMA, Oluyemi Olanrewaju, in his reaction, said the agency has directed the affected people to come forward and make official complaint for necessary action.

He however lamented lack of funding to make provision for intervention in anticipation of such natural disaster, adding that the agency is almost grounded to the extent that there is no single operational vehicle in the agency for inspection.

There was a massive celebration earlier today after a woman gave birth to a bouncing baby boy while going to vote in the governorship and states assembly elections in Rivers.
It was gathered that the woman went into labour while trying to exercise her franchise and was helped by some nurses and other women to give birth by the roadside at Rumuchuolu Eneka area in Port-Harcourt.
The residents were overwhelmed with joy after the delivery and have named the baby after the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, who is seeking re-election.

Owerri – The Imo state commissioner of police, Dazuki Galadanchi, has said that five persons suspected to be fake policemen have been arrested in Ideato South local government area in the state.
Galadanchi confirmed this development to newsmen in Owerri, as voting has commenced in some local government areas in the state, including reports of ballot box snatching.
The commissioner of police briefly said: “Five fake policemen in Ideato South local government area, have been arrested. While two soldiers were also arrested. They were arrested excorting a politician and they are not suppose to be on a election duty.
“Also, in Oke Uvuru Aboh Mbaise local government area, ballot boxes were snatched and they were recovered by our men.”

Many Dead As Dangote Truck Crushes Multiple Vehicles On Kaduna-Abuja Road. Photos

Report has it that scores of passengers were killed in multiple accident which happened on Friday afternoon (today) along Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

It was gathered that the fatal accident was allegedly caused by a truck owned by Dangote truck near the toll gate in Kaduna at the end of Abuja highway.
Many vehicles includes buses were crushed by the Dangote truck.
The corpses of the victims were evacuated by soldiers and sympathizers.

Honest Cleaner Finds N143 million Cash Inside Bus, Returns It To Police

An honest cleaner has shocked many people after returning a whopping 300,000 pounds (N143,262,775.35) found inside a bus in London, according to Metro UK.

The honest worker from Cordant Cleaners, who has not been named, discovered the cash on a London bus and made the admirable decision to hand it in to the Met Police.

It appears an absent minded passenger left the brown envelope filled with bank notes, which was only discovered when the vehicle was being cleaned.

And finding the cash must’ve been a dream compared to some of the items Cordant cleaners have to deal with on a daily basis. Some of their colleagues have been met with sex toys, soiled nappies, used tampons, false teeth and – not to mention both vomit and poo.

Cordant boss Guy Pakenham said: ‘More often than not I’m left shocked when mu team tell me about the disgusting things they have to get rid of when cleaning buses up and down the UK.

‘But I can only praise their dedication and good humour. They don’t seem to be fazed by anything. ‘Thankfully our staff are fully trained and equipped to deal with cleaning hazards like these.

‘But we can only urge passengers that next time they defecate on the floor of a bus, or throw up their own false teeth, please remember to take all of your items with you.’

It is not known if anyone has reported the cash missing.

Aliko Dangote emerges World 64th Richest Man After Gaining $5.8bn In One Day

The Nigerian Richest and populous Man Aliko Dangote also the President of Dangote Group has been ranked as the world’s 64th richest person after he gained $5.8bn within 24 hours, causing his total net worth to rise to $16.6bn on Tuesday.

This is according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, a ranking of the world’s 500 richest people.

The Index showed that Dangote’s wealth fell from $10.5bn at the end of last year to a low of $9.63bn on January 1, 2019. But it grew to $10.8bn on Monday, February 25.

It further revealed that Dangote’s net worth increased by 23 per cent from $13.5bn on February 26, 2018, to $16.6bn, emerging 64th richest person in the world.

The list shows that Dangote’s wealth rose by 58 per cent so far this year, making him the second biggest mover after Andrew Forrest, founder and largest shareholder of Fortescue Metals Group, the world’s fourth-largest iron ore producer, whose wealth grew by 59 per cent.

Dangote was the only Nigerian on Bloomberg’s list of 500 billionaires and retained his position as Africa’s richest person.

Man Dies While Celebrating Buhari's Election Victory In Taraba (Photo)

A young boy has died while celebrating President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election in Taraba state.

Reports revealed the deceased fell from a motorcycle yesterday while jubilating with others along a highway in Jalingo, Taraba state.

He reportedly died on the spot and his corpse was later removed from the road by officials.

Also yesterday, a young man died in Abuja while celebrating Buhari’s victory in the presidential election.

Currency is currently showing that one dollar is going for N184, but this is just a glitch in Google’s software or Algorithm.

The Central Bank of Nigeria sold the greenback to bureau de change (BDC) operators at N357 per dollar on Friday.

Musa Ibrahim, a BDC operator, who spoke to TheCablefrom Lagos Island, said he bought $20,000 from the CBN at 357 per dollar.

“We collected from CBN today at the rate of N357, and each BDC operator is entitled to $20, 000,” he said.

Two members of staff at Google, who spoke off the record, confirmed to TheCable that this was just a bug, that is currently being fixed by the search giant.

According to Bloomberg currency rate, the dollar is currently trading at N361.8, with the local currency gaining N1.75 against the greenback.

Nigeria goes to the poll in less than 12 hours after this glitch, driving speculations and jokes on social media on how the incumbent may want to turn the economy around overnight.

While some fear that their stacked dollars may have lost tremendous value, others are celebrating a rise in the value of the naira, but many are aware this is just a temporary glitch.

Whatever the case is, the dollar is still trading at 358 to 360 at the foreign exchange market.

•Sensitive electoral material belonging to Kano lands in Oyo
The Resident Electoral Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in charge of Kwara state, Mallam Garba Attahir Madami, yesterday said the results sheet meant for the state for the presidential and National Assembly elections postponed last week was mistakenly taken to the commission’s office at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.He also said the one meant for Lagos was mistakenly delivered in Kwara while that of Lagos was taken to Nasarawa state.

Madami made the disclosure while addressing party agents at the commencement of distribution of sensitive elections materials from the Ilorin office of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to local government areas in the state.It was witnessed by representatives of various security agencies including the Police, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Prison Service, and the media.

“The result sheets for Kwara were found in our FCT office in Abuja and they are going to be sent today. I will be here (CBN) till they bring it. Also the results sheets of Lagos were found here, I have sent it back; that of Lagos was also found in Nasarawa. You can see the reason the election was postponed”, the REC said. He, however, said the commission was expecting to take delivery of the results sheets to be used for rescheduled elections before the end of the Wednesday even as he said the commission has taken delivery of other materials needed for the rescheduled polls.

“The result sheets are not going to be used not until Saturday; but we would get it before then,” he said.He said the commission began the movement of the election materials to various local government areas in the state to ensure that the materials go to the difficult terrain early enough.

“We are starting with the local governments that are far way; we are moving our materials to Baruten, Kaiama, Patigi where there are riverine communities,” he said.Meanwhile, there was a mild drama at the Central Bank of Nigeria branch in Dugbe, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, after the Form EC8B of the Independent National Electoral Commission meant for Kano State was found in the election material deliveries meant for Oyo.

The form, which is one of the sensitive election materials, is the result sheet for a particular ward within a state.While some journalists were moving round the CBN premises around 5.30pm to monitor the sorting of the materials, a group of INEC officials, including ad hoc ones, suddenly raised an alarm.

“Eh! For Kano… Noted,” they exclaimed, as a woman raised up the form.One of them subsequently took the form to a superior INEC official, who documented it in a register.A senior official of the Commission supervising the sorting was approached to ask how the discovery would be handled.He said, “We will give it to the CBN to return it to Kano State as soon as possible,” the official, who did not disclose his name, said.

Asked if there were other discoveries of such, he said, “For now, that is the only one we have found.” The official added that the sensitive materials would be dispatched to different local government areas of the state as soon as the sorting ends.Efforts to get the comment of the INEC Head of Publicity in the state, Mr. Olayiwola Arowolo, on the development proved abortive as calls made to his line were not answered.The Resident Electoral Commission in the state, Mr. Mutiu Agboke, had also yet to reply to a text message sent to his line as of the time of filing this report.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Office has arrested one Kola Al-Amin, a former staff of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB over alleged forgery and obtaining money by false pretences.

His arrest followed a petition alleging that sometime in November, 2010, Kola who operates under the name of “Cool Technologies Consult Limited” with office located at No.4/900, Taiwo House, Second Floor, Yemetu Total Garden, Ibadan, Oyo State approached the complainant, a microfinance bank (name withheld) with a Local Purchasing Order (LPO) for the supply of internet hardware which he claimed was from JAMB headquarters, Abuja.

He requested the microfinance bank to advance him a loan of 10,000,000.00 (Ten Million Naira) only to finance the LPO.

The petitioner further alleged that Kola was granted the loan with the agreement that the proceed of the LPO from JAMB will be paid directly into his account with the microfinance bank but that at maturity time for repayment, he allegedly disappeared and on verification of the LPO in JAMB headquarters, Abuja, it was discovered that the LPO provided by the suspect was forged and that he was no longer a staff of the organization.

Additional investigation revealed that the suspect has been involved in several other fraudulent deals under the same guise of being a JAMB official.

He will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
