The Closed gate - Soldiers based story

The gate was closed, one soldier standing with his back against one of the posts, his gun slung across a shoulder and his cap tilted over his eyes. Two more were inside a booth playing a game, none of them paid me attention as I walked up to the gate, though I felt certain they knew I was there. I was rather disturbed. If a beger came to the place, I thought, them they had no reason to ignore him. But I was definitely not one nor do I look like one. I coughed for deserved notice. But I was through, one of the players yelled  at me ‘what do you want? He didn’t even raised his head from his game

‘Is Major Bello here?’ I asked him in return ‘What do you want with him? ‘I have urgent business to discuss with him, ‘I said The soldier sitting with his back to me turned and surveyed me from head to foot, and turned back again. The one learning against the post tripped up his cap just enough to run his bloodshot eyes down me. From head to foot, then let it settle again over his eyes and resumed his pasture
‘What kind of business? ‘I said. He will understand if you just let him know I’m here to see him.’ At this he stopped playing to look at me, quite piercingly ‘Look here, old man, he said, you can’t just come here and demand to see an officer for some vague reason. What do you want – what business is it you want to discuss with him.
I was perplexed. It’s one thing to probe a man;s mission and another thing to do so with such blatant and oppressive rudeness. I dabbed my sweating palms with my handkerchief
“Aaah,’ I said, “I have told you’
‘You haven’t told me anything. Look – where is your pas
‘Pass’
‘Do you also not know that you can’t get into this place without a pass?
‘I ___
‘All right, go away; he said turning back his game. ‘go away and stop wasting my time.
‘But major Bello ______\
‘You heard what he said,’ intoned the soldier with the tilted cap, still as  still as a stone ‘Go away,’ he thundered in a way that portrayed his temperamental nature
